Interim Housing
REST’s Interim Housing provides 60 men and 40 women members with a guaranteed bed for four months at the same sites as Emergency Shelter program. The Men’s Site is in the Peoples Church at 941 W. Lawrence, and the Women’s Site is in the Uptown Baptist Church, at 1011 W. Wilson. The daytime residential space is at 941 W. Lawrence, along with mail service and Social Services.
The Interim Housing program offers 2 meals a day, a shower, clothing, toiletries and hygiene items, mail service and voicemail service. Members participate in Social Services with intensive Case Management with public benefits advocacy, on-site free medical care, and Basic Life Skills groups. Life Skills groups include 12-step meetings, peer support groups, Men’s and Women’s art and fitness groups, health class, recovery and spirituality group, pre-employment training, structured recreation and referrals to obtain permanent housing. The Daytime Residential space gives them a safe place to read, get coffee, watch TV and relax when not attending groups or working. The Interim Housing Program is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
