Permanent Housing

Artist in Permanent HousingREST rents 100 apartments in different buildings on the North Side and offers them to our disabled clients as Permanent Supportive Housing, funded by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  Clients must be disabled with either chronic mental illness or chronic substance abuse in order to be eligible for the program.  Clients also must be involved in REST’s Social Services, including Case Management services and Basic Life Skills groups.

Through generous donations we offer necessities including basic household goods such as pots, dishes, furniture and linens.  We also offer clothing and toiletries.  As individuals in the Permanent Housing program become more stable and independent, the program rules become less structured.  When a participant obtains an income, s/he contributes 30% of their income to the cost of the rent.
